The tool reduces the image to a grid. Each horizontal cell represents a point in time, each vertical cell represents a pitch, and detected foreground pixels become notes. Neighboring pixels are joined into longer notes to keep the MIDI file compact.
No. Image decoding, pixel analysis, preview rendering, and MIDI generation all happen locally in your browser. Closing or refreshing the page clears the selected image.
The converter accepts formats that modern browsers can decode, including PNG, JPEG/JPG, GIF, BMP, and WebP. A clear, high-contrast image usually creates the best piano-roll result.
Yes. Convert the image first, then use the built-in player to play, pause, stop, seek, and change volume. Playback is synthesized with the Web Audio API in your browser, so Cloudflare only needs to serve the static site files.
Yes. The download is a Standard MIDI File (.mid). You can import it into FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reaper, MuseScore, and most other MIDI-compatible music software.
No. This tool maps visual features to notes. It does not identify instruments, extract audio, or transcribe a waveform. Assign any instrument you like after importing the MIDI file into your music software.
